Workshops
Spirit Mask Making
Brief Overview:
The objective of this workshop is to learn the skills that will allow you to craft not only masks, but various objects for use in theatre, festivities, personal development and self-discovery.
Full Description:
SPIRIT MASKS Masks have been used in every culture around the world in sacred rites, passion plays, theatre, and just for fun. Often made of wood, masks can also be made of leather or metal such as copper, tin, or even gold like the mask of Tutankhamun. Today we find masks made of rubber and plastic made famous by Halloween. The mask is a symbol of an alter ego and is connected to the personality from the Latin word persona related to “personare” “sounding through a mask.” Come learn a faster and cleaner paper mâché method that produces striking detail which is light weight, durable and will express your inner persona. All materials are provided, and no experience is required. The objective of this workshop is to learn the skills that will allow you to craft not only masks, but various objects for use in theater, festivities, personal development and self-discovery. Capture the spirit or likeness of your favourite plant, animal or creature and fashion it into three dimensions.
