Brief Overview: The Magic of Beeswax & Natural Pigment!
This workshop will help you get in touch with your creative side!

The media is an excellent teacher…it demands the abandon of absolute control, to reveal the exquisite artistry that can emerge when you ‘go with the flow’.

Full Description:

Encaustic Painting: The Magic Of Melted Wax!

This beautiful art form dates back to the 5th century BC. The word “Encaustic” comes from the Greek “enkaustikos” which means “to burn in.” The technique involves applying melted beeswax prepared with pigments to a wooden surface, then manipulating the wax using a variety of methods, such as heated irons.

The completed works have an amazing shine...the play of light on the textured surface is unique since the light does not merely reflect off the surface, but penetrates through the layers of beeswax. This art form is as much sculpting as it is painting, and the union results in breathtaking works.

You do not need any prior knowledge or experience. Leave your fears and inhibitions at the door…you are in excellent hands!   Facilitator Oscar De Los Santos is a noted artist, inventor, poet, musician and founder of Tribal Thunder. You will be sure to leave with an original piece of art that you have created and is ready to admire.

This is an entirely ‘green’ hobby; the wax is completely reusable, recyclable, 100% non-toxic, biodegradable and environmentally friendly! Additionally, at any time in the future you can change your work… simply scrape it off, melt it down and start new!.

Be sure to register early as space is limited to 10 participants. All materials, complete guidance and light refreshments are provided in a safe and fun atmosphere. Set your creativity free!
